In-person workshop: Non-Verbal Communication, 26 February 2023

Join us for this half-day workshop to re-connect with yourself and with others

10 am to 1pm at Star of the Sea on Salt Spring Island

I am offering a series of workshops through the Star of the Sea on Salt Spring, by donation, on a drop-in basis. Each workshop is organized around a theme that naturally arises in relationship. My intention is to facilitate a community of people who are interested in cultivating self-awareness, building kindness and friendship, and learning skills to support others to do the same.

Together, we will create a gentle, quiet place to connect with ourselves and with others in a way that will stimulate connection, appreciation and joy, enhancing our sense of well-being. Everyone is welcome.

Daniel Goleman, who wrote the book, “Emotional Intelligence”, says that 90% of emotional communication is non-verbal. In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, we will use a combination of self-reflection practices and exercises in pairs or small groups to discover new information this theme. We may learn about the messages that we sometimes unknowingly give and receive in our communications with others, and explore new ways of relating that will bring us more emotionally satisfying interactions with ourselves and others.

This workshop is offered by a donation of $25, payable to the Star of the Sea. For Registration please email: staroftheseassi@gmail.com

Please note: Donations of $25 can now be given in advance via e-transfer. If you prefer to donate on the day of the workshop, you can do that by cheque, made to Star of the Sea or in cash.

This workshop draws from the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) training and the Hakomi method. No experience is required…..only an openness to connect with yourself and others. Marcia Burton is a Hakomi Trainer and MSC Teacher, and a Registered Clinical Counsellor, in private practice for 25 years. Hakomi is a word from the Hopi language, meaning, “How do I stand in relation to these many realms”.  The creator of the Hakomi Method, Ron Kurtz, spent over 40 years refining this method and received a Lifetime Achievement Award and honourary degree from the American Association of Body-Psychotherapists.
